Creating and Deleting Desktop Printers Creating a Desktop Printer 1. Select Chooser from the Apple menu. 2. If your printer is connected to an AppleTalk network, make AppleTalk active by clicking the Active button. 3. If your printer is connected to your computer via AppleTalk: In the upper-left area of the Chooser, click the type of printer you want to use. Then, click the name of the printer you want to use. If your printer is connected to your computer with a serial interface cable or Modem: On the left side of the Chooser, click the type of printer you want to use, then select the port you want to use (printer for serial, or telephone for modem). 4. Select the type of connection you will use for printing from the Connect via: pop-up menu in the top right corner of the Chooser. Note: Select Servers if you want to create a desktop printer for another printer that is shared. 5. Click Create. An HP DeskWriter GX desktop printer icon appears on your desktop. Refer to your QuickDraw GX documentation for information on using a desktop printer. 6. Close the Chooser by clicking the close box. Deleting a Desktop Printer 1. Double-click the desktop printer icon to open the dialog box. Check that the print queue is empty. 2. Close the dialog box, then drag the desktop printer icon to the Trash.
